Reduce, Reuse and Recycle

Most often referred to as the "three R's", the phrase "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" is a simple formula that encourages people, businesses, and municipalities to utilize goods that are already manufactured rather than continue to use only limited raw materials to produce replacement goods. Hanex is committed to implemented this simple formula at all locations to achieve the following goals:

Hanwha L&C | Surfaces is committed to being a pro-environment company creating eco-friendly products for the marketplace. We focus our product research and development, manufacturing approach and recycling efforts toward demonstrating how we value the environment and wish to protect its future for generations to come.

From recycling 100% of the water used in the production process, installing an air purification system to remove pollutants from the air to a system that collects all dust within the plant, we strive to ensure a healthy workplace along with an eco-conscious approach in product development, waste management and conservation efforts.

Specifying Hanwha Surfaces products in green building projects can also contribute to LEED certification points. All of the surfaces are low-VOC in accordance with GREENGUARD’s Indoor Air Quality standards and clean easily with no need for chemical detergents.

What is the Leed Green Building Rating System?

The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System is a voluntary standard for developing environmentally responsible, low emission, high-performance, sustainable buildings. Individual materials and products used in buildings are not certified. The Version 2.1 certification process is for the entire construction project. The project earns “points” towards becoming certified. The categories where points can accumulate for Global partition products are as follows: Local Regional Materials: LEED V2.1 awards 1 point if 20% of the building materials are manufactured (final assembly) regionally within 500 miles of the project site. This contributes to Credit 5.1 of the "Materials & Resources" area.

Materials & Resources (Building Reuse): LEED V2.1 awards 1 point if the material maintains 100% of existing building structure and shell (exterior skin and framing) and at least 50% of non-shell areas (floor coverings, walls, doors and ceilings).

Low Emitting Materials: LEED V2.1 awards 1 point (Credit 4.1 of "Indoor Environmental Quality" area) if the VOC content of adhesives is less than the current limit specified in SCAQMD Rule #1168, and 1 point (Credit EQ 4.4) if the engineered wood and agri-fiber products contain no added urea-formaldehyde resins
